I am to receive an honorary doctorate at a local university next month. May I wear the Doctoral Hood as I receive my degree?

While you may wear a Doctoral gown at the ceremony, you may not wear the Doctoral Hood until after having been granted your degree.

Custom tailored in accordance with the standards established by the Inter-Collegiate Costume Code of the American Council on Education, our presentation quality Doctoral Hoods are backed by our Custom Tailoring Guarantee of Quality, and require 4 to 5 weeks for completion from factory receipt of all necessary ordering information.

Our Doctoral Hoods are:

  • Distinguished by size (4 feet long) and shape
  • Hand crafted in the fabric of your choice
  • Trimmed with a 5 inch wide Velvet banding which represents the field of your degree
  • Satin lined with the colors and pattern established by your school or university.
